pass1It is with much pride that we take this opportunity of congratulating the Class of 2017: 100% PASS! We are 1 of 12 schools in the Umlazi District to have achieved this feat in 2017.

Suhina Singh was placed 5th in the Top 5 Provincial Special School positions. She was our DUX of 2017 and carried that consistency into her FINALS. Her humility and commitment augurs well for her in her future career pursuing teaching at UKZN. The pride her single mother, who’s been her pillar of strength, displayed was unforgettable as Suhina collected her certificate and an ASUS laptop as her awards. The Premier of KZN, the MEC of Education, King Goodwill Zwelithini and the Ambassador of China KZN Embassy were some of the dignitaries in attendance. Suhina, a true homegrown product of OASIS!

Mrs Bianca Naidoo, whom I appointed to Head the High School and the Grade 12s in 2017, and her team of teachers, teacher aides, therapists and other support staff rose to my challenge to produce quality results. I congratulate you, Bianca, and your team in this regard! It was challenging on so many fronts but we did it! We wanted more Bachelor Passes and we got it. Quality rather than quantity. These results were better than I expected and I’m so proud of all you’ve achieved with your team!

Special mention must be made of Physical Sciences and Drama which had our first batch of Matriculants sit in well over a decade. Both subjects achieved 100% passes and I’m so proud of Mr Alvino Naidoo and Ms Joanne Bellars in getting these results.

Our thanks to the rest of the school: teachers from Primary School assisting and other support staff including our Hostel …it was a WHOLESCHOOL effort indeed!

Finally my gratitude to the SMT, SGB, parents and other stakeholders who are FRIENDS OF OASIS for making these results possible. We often don’t realise the hard work and dedication it takes to produce such an achievement.
